Dark Souls 3 '80s-Style VHS Cover Now Available to Download (Bandai Namco's April Fools' Day gag comes to life.)

If you enjoyed Bandai Namco's April Fools' Day prank for Dark Souls III that imagined the game as an '80s VHS movie, here's some good news. The publisher has now released downloadable versions of a cover based on the one seen in the gag trailer, which you can use to replace the game's standard cover.

The silly cover has a dated look and features fake press quotes like "I laughed...I cried...No, I just cried" and "An all-you-can-east Souls buffet!" Others praise the game for being "A convincing portrayal of one man's struggle...to struggle," while the protagonist is described as "A hero with bigger balls than basketballs."

Dark Souls III launched in the west on April 12 to mostly positive reviews, though there have been some issues with the PC edition.

GameSpot's Dark Souls III review awarded the sequel 8/10.

"There are several possible endings to Dark Souls III, and although most are anticlimactic, they drive home the loneliness of the paths we took," reviewer Mike Mahardy said.

"The old lords have abandoned their posts, and in the hunt to usurp them, we descend into those dark valleys, and climb those imposing peaks. This is the essence of Dark Souls III: periods of doubt, followed by great reward. The journey may be rocky, but there's a throne waiting at the end."
