Platoons are coming to Battlefield 4 in the very near future, according to DICE Producer Jesper Nielsen.
Nielsen, A.K.A. TheBikingViking on the Battlefield forums, confirmed the feature is on its way to the social-networking/stat-tracking companion application, Battlelog, forBattlefield 4 players.

For the uninitiated, Platoons are a way of linking players together through the Battlelog service, allowing for easier communication and coordination and as a way of establishing a group identity.
Though Nielsen didn't reveal exactly when Platoons would be implemented, he is in the process of accepting a subset of players into early access, to "test certain parts of the system before a full rollout and get some even earlier feedback." He added, "details to be announced very soon."

DICE has been running a Player Appreciation Month since the beginning of February in an effort to give back to the Battlefield 4 community, recently hosting its first Battlefield 4community mission.
